Flagyl Tablets are used in adults who are experiencing persistent diarrhea, or symptoms of an allergic reaction to food or starchy food such as those found in food intolerances. Flagyl Tablets may also be used for purposes other than those listed here.

Flagyl is a brand-name prescription antimicrobial used to treat bacterial infections of the heart, blood, nervous system, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, lungs, joints, bones, and skin. Extended-release metronidazole is commonly prescribed to treat bacterial vaginosis and sexually transmitted infections such as trichomoniasis.
As an antimicrobial, Flagyl cannot be used to treat viral infections. If Flagyl is being used to treat a sexually transmitted infection (like trichomoniasis), both sex partners should use the medication simultaneously. This helps reduce the risk of reinfection in either partner. Antimicrobials stop the growth of harmful microorganisms in the body, so simultaneous use in both partners of metronidazole will help prevent the infection from living on and being passed between partners.
Flagyl is available in a pack of four 500mg tablets of metronidazole, which is either tablets or extended-release capsules. Four tablets of metronidazole are taken each day or as needed to treat a bacterial infection. All metronidazole tablets are taken orally, so a 500mg metronidazole tablet may be taken less than 12 hours before a bacterial infection.
Flagyl is available in an adult dose of 400mg. This will not affect your other medications or significantly reduce the risk of side effects. If you are taking cilostazol, cefuroxime, orTerazol (Cardura) group of antibiotics, talk to your doctor about using this medication before use. I am not a big fan of pills. I had a heart attack two years ago and was in a hospital. I have been prescribed metronidazole and Flagyl for my gut. My gut isn't that good. My gut isn't the problem.
